Signet-ring cell carcinoma of the colon (a case report and a review of the literature)

Summary. The article presents a rare case of endoscopic diagnosis of synchronous signet-ring cell carcinoma of the transverse colon and moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma of the rectum. Signet-ring cell carcinoma is a rare pathology with 0.1–2.6% overall frequency of occurrence among all colorectal cancers cases. Non-specific clinical and endoscopic symptoms, late diagnosis of the signet-ring cell carcinoma determine a poor prognosis of the disease.
