The role of sulfhydryl groups in the formation of resistance serous ovarian cancer to platinum drugs

Summary. The authors, based on the results of research of 189 women aged 45–63 years with serous ovarian cancer, found that their sensitivity to platinum drugs was related to the content sulfhydryl groups in the tumor tissue. It is shown that reduction of sulfhydryl groups in the tumor tissue and increased proportion among these groups bound to lipids, accompanied by increased resistance to the action of the platinum drugs and enhance the pathological process. The authors suggest that the reduction of sulfhydryl groups reduces the possibility of tioneinic platinum compounds, which are the main toxic agent chemotherapy.
