Supratentorial primitive neuroectodermal tumors in children.

Summary. Primitive neuroectodermal tumors of the brain are of the most common cancers of the central nervous system in children. Standard methods of treatment of primitive neuroectodermal tumors is surgical resection, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. This article is devoted to results of treatment, prognosis and assessment of life quality of 53 children with supratentorial primitive neuroectodermal tumors. The results of a retrospective study show the need to apply for these cancers more aggressive treatment strategy. Radical surgery, using radiotherapy and chemotherapy have a significant impact on the quality and life expectancy of children with supratentorial primitive neuroectodermal tumors of the brain.
