The evolution of sphincter-saving surgery in patients with low rectal cancer

Summary. The comparative analysis of different methods in the sphincter-saving surgical interference efficiency in treatment of 205 patients with low rectal cancer was carried out. The advantages of proctectomy with formation of anastomosis were proved to ameliorate the ultimate and functional results of treatment and patients’ quality of life improvement under the developed in clinic methodology and low anterior resections of rectum with formation of colorectal anastomosis using a linear stapling device in comparison with standard abdominal-anal resections.
