Prognostication of short-term results in gastrectomy for gastric cancer

Summary. The article deals with the prognostic factors of short-term results in gastrectomy, performed in 1435 gastric cancer patients, who had undergone gastrectomy in Donetsk regional cancer centre over a period of 20 years. It was found that intraoperative complications risk increases with the growth of the number of the removed organs and/or anatomical structures. Postoperative complications risk increases with the presence of associated diseases. Postoperative death risk in gastrectomy for gastric cancer increases with the presence of complications of neoplastic process, associated diseases, tumour location in the body of stomach, cardiac orifice or total affection
