The editorial board of the journal «Clinical Oncology» adheres to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the European Association of Science Editors (EASE), and the Code of Ethics for Ukrainian Scientists.
For Editorial Board
The Editorial Board bears ethical responsibility for all published material. Decisions regarding publication are made independently of commercial interests — solely on the basis of scientific merit and compliance with the journal’s requirements. The editorial board reserves the right to reject a manuscript without peer review if it does not comply with the editorial policy or the publication’s ethical standards.
Information regarding a manuscript under consideration is confidential and will not be disclosed to third parties. Should any breaches of ethical standards or infringements of rights be identified after publication, the editorial board will withdraw the article, notify the author and the institution where the work was carried out, and publish a corresponding notice in the next issue of the journal.
The editorial board is not responsible for the opinions, judgements and conclusions of the authors — these reflect the authors’ views, not those of the editorial board.
For authors
Authors confirm that the submitted research has been conducted in accordance with current legislation and ethical standards, that the results are presented accurately and without manipulation of data, and that the material is original and has not been published previously.
Authors are required to disclose sources of funding and any potential conflicts of interest. Academic criticism in the article is permitted; personal criticism is not. Responsibility for the absence of plagiarism, the accuracy of research results and information, and the correctness of citations rests entirely with the authors.
For reviewers
Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts objectively and impartially, whilst respecting the intellectual independence of the authors. They must decline to review a manuscript in the event of a conflict of interest—such as personal or professional ties with the authors—or if the manuscript is closely related to their own current research.
The manuscript is confidential: the reviewer must not disclose it to third parties or use unpublished data without the authors’ consent. Comments must be substantiated and provided without undue delay. The reviewer is also obliged to inform the editorial board of any signs of plagiarism identified.
Compliance with editorial ethics
When describing a study involving patients, authors are required to state whether the ethical guidelines of the local ethics committee and the 1975 Declaration of Helsinki (2008 revision) have been followed. If there are doubts regarding the study’s compliance with the Declaration of Helsinki, authors are required to explain this and provide evidence of the local ethics committee’s approval of the controversial aspects of the study.
Only research materials in which patients have provided written informed consent and for which approval has been obtained from the local ethics committee (submitted at the time of publication) will be accepted for publication. Patients have a right to privacy, which must not be infringed upon without the signing of an informed consent form. Any identifying information, including names, initials and hospital record numbers, must not be included in the text of the article or in the accompanying illustrations, except where such information is of critical scientific importance and the patient has provided written consent for its use.
When conducting research involving animals or animal tissues, authors must obtain approval from a local ethics committee and strictly adhere to local and national guidelines on the care and use of laboratory animals. When submitting a manuscript, authors must provide information regarding the local ethics committee’s approval of the study.
Throughout the collaboration process, authors, reviewers, the publisher and readers of scientific publications must maintain courteous and productive communication.
The deliberate misattribution of authorship and the falsification of data are not permitted. Unpublished data derived from manuscripts submitted for consideration must not be used for personal purposes or disclosed to third parties without the author’s written consent. All information and ideas must remain confidential.
