Surgical removal of the tumor thrombus inferior vena cava without cardiopulmonary bypass: what to do if the liver piggyback mobilization is not possible?

Summary.The study presents the results of an anatomical assessment the possibility of the new surgical maneuver — the formation of a transversal tunnel under the mouths of the major hepatic veins during removal the tumor thrombus of the inferior vena cava. The parameters of this surgical approach were compared with the results of the liver piggy-back mobilization. Our results demonstrated the possibility of forming the tunnel under the mouths of the major hepatic veins in 80% of patients.
