Possibilities of modern visualization methods in planning radiation therapy in patients with cervical cancerIvankova V.S.1, Domina E.A.2, Khrulenko T.V.1, Baranovska L.M.1, Glavin А.A.2
Summary. The article analyzes the world literature on the use of various modern imaging methods. Their role in the early diagnosis of malignant cervical tumors, the spread of the oncological focus, planning courses of conformal radiotherapy, assessing the early response of the tumor to specific therapy, predicting the results of treatment, its effectiveness, and timely detection of progression, metastasis, or recurrence of the tumor process of gynecological cancer, in particular, locally advanced cervical cancer, is shown. Further improvements in diagnostic technology, including computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET), and PET-CT or PET-MRI, the investigation of new markers, and the analysis of data from their various combinations, are likely to make this method particularly informative for diagnosis and planning of therapeutic strategies.
